Mail Clerk/Courier

Job Summary The General Clerk II supports mail administration and operations by performing detailed business analysis, quality control, reporting, and technical support for the Program Support Center (PSC) Mail and Publishing Services, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) component agencies, and other Federal Government partners. This role ensures full compliance with U.S. Postal Service regulations and oversees the accurate processing of all inbound and outbound mail in accordance with federal requirements. In addition to assisting with daily mail room operations, the General Clerk II performs all duties associated with the General Clerk I position, including handling, sorting, and distributing mail. The role may also include occasional supervisory responsibilities to support overall workflow and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Integrate CNI Core Competencies into daily functions: commitment to integrity, quality of work, financial goal support, initiative, cooperation, problem analysis, organization, communication skills, leadership, affirmative action, reliability, flexibility, and accountability. Sort, separate, and deliver incoming mail per customer requirements; deliver mail twice daily; retrieve interoffice mail and process outbound mail. Perform quality control by reviewing all files, dating, stamping, and opening incoming mail including appeal files. Place mail in proper buckets or bins for distribution and complete incorrect returned mail. Receive outgoing mail, apply correct postage, weight mail to determine postage, and arrange pickup of outgoing mail. Fold letters, circulars, or other documents and insert into envelopes for distribution. Take occasional supervisory responsibilities to support workflow and operational efficiency. Essential Requirements Must be able to obtain and maintain required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment, and property. Must have a current valid driver’s license and Real ID to enter federal buildings and drive a federal vehicle. Education and Experience High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) and three (3) years’ of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current valid driver’s license and Real ID are required. Physical Demands Primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit.
