Phlebotomist Part Time

Job Overview This is a contract job opportunity. The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Position Details Title: Phlebotomist 5267 Location: Colorado Springs, CO Schedule: Part Time - Monday-Saturday 5am-9am Projected duration: 3 months + potential for perm Job code: CVDJP00035267 Responsibilities Experienced in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Explains the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner. Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understands physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order. Checks all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% accuracy. Packages specimens for transport. Stores specimen samples according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocol for transport to maintain specimen integrity. Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attends annual department training. Answers telephone calls, reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED.
