Patient Access Associate 2 Gastroenterology

Job Description Inova Fair Oaks is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Associate 2 to join the team. This role will be full‑time day shift from Monday to Friday, alternating opening shift (7:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.) and closing shift (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). The Patient Access Associate 2 admits and schedules patients, conducts insurance verifications, and provides financial counseling. They ensure patient safety by demonstrating effective problem‑solving and communication skills, and engage in active listening when dealing with customer complaints. Patient Access Associate 2 Job Responsibilities Express sincere concern and empathy when dealing with customer complaints. Access appropriate systems/services to confirm insurance coverage or other payment methods. Communicate scheduling changes to patients, staff, physicians and patient representatives in a timely and professional manner. Identify and communicate payroll authorization and referral requirements to patients. Explain insurance benefits and patient liability using appropriate communication methods and styles. Report safety hazards/violations and take appropriate action to protect the environment and guests until help arrives, if necessary. Deliver an acceptable volume of work with high levels of accuracy while improving inefficiencies and minimizing repetitive errors by revising current workflow procedures. Recognize when a problem needs to be elevated for resolution and involve others in the problem‑solving process when additional input is needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: 1 year of healthcare patient access experience or 1 year of experience in healthcare revenue cycle (Bachelor’s degree in lieu of experience).
