Job Title: Collections Specialist –Payment Specialist  

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced  Collections Specialist to manage late-stage collections for student accounts with outstanding balances. This is not an entry-level position; we are looking for a seasoned professional with a strong background in collections, particularly in late-stage recovery efforts. The ideal candidate has excellent negotiation skills, a deep understanding of debt collection regulations, and the ability to handle complex collection scenarios with professionalism and tact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee late-stage collections for student accounts with delinquent balances.
• Contact borrowers through various communication channels to secure payment arrangements.
• Negotiate settlements and payment plans while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Investigate and resolve disputes related to outstanding debts.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of collection activities..

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in debt collections, with a focus on late-stage recoveries .
• Strong knowledge of student loan debt and related collection practices.
• In-depth understanding of FDCPA, CFPB, and other debt collection regulations .
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining a professional and empathetic approach.
• Experience with collection software and CRM systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Fluent in English and Spanish
