CNC Machinist (2nd Shift)

Machinist Position at Kamatics

Kamatics is seeking machinists across multiple experience levels (III, IV, V & VI) to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. This role supports the production of high-precision aerospace components by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machining equipment in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Candidates may range from experienced machinists building on foundational skills to highly skilled machinists capable of independently performing complex setups, optimizing machining processes, and supporting others on the team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Set up, operate, adjust, and troubleshoot CNC machine tools to perform progressive machining operations
2. Execute machining operations including drilling, boring, milling, turning, honing, threading, and related processes within machine capabilities
3. Work from programs, operation sheets, blueprints, and setup instructions to execute precision machining processes
4. Manage tooling, fixturing, material clamping, offsets, and console settings to ensure part accuracy and repeatability
5. Verify parts for conformance to engineering drawings and GD&T requirements using appropriate inspection methods
6. Identify and resolve machining, tooling, or program-related issues to maintain quality and productivity
7. Maintain production documentation and follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures
8. Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and enhance overall quality
9. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Additional Responsibilities (Based on Experience Level)

• Perform full machine setups independently on complex parts and multi-axis CNC equipment
• Validate and prove out programs; make adjustments to optimize cycle times, quality, and machining performance
• Troubleshoot advanced machining processes, tooling, and programming issues
• Provide technical guidance and training to less experienced machinists
• Identify and implement process improvements across operations

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Machining or technical training certificate preferred

Experience

• 2-6+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience level, scope of responsibility, and complexity of work will vary based on candidate background

Skills & Knowledge

• Understanding of CNC machining principles, processes, and best practices
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T requirements
• Proficiency in shop math and precision measurement tools
• Experience with CNC machine operations, including offsets (geometry and wear), dry runs, and program adjustments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
