Job Description

The Quality Inspector ensures that shipping containers, structural components, and finished products meet all quality, safety, and customer specifications. This role performs visual and dimensional inspections, verifies compliance with engineering drawings and blueprints, and partners closely with fabrication and production teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Inspect shipping containers, structural components, and finished products for quality and compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.
• Verify that all builds and modifications meet engineering drawings, blueprints, and detailed customer specifications.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Identify, document, and communicate defects, inconsistencies, or non-conforming materials in a clear and timely manner.
• Work closely with fabrication, welding, and production teams to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
• Ensure all products meet safety, structural integrity, and workmanship standards before release.
• Maintain accurate and organized inspection records, reports, and documentation for traceability and quality audits.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, and consistency in the production process.
• Use hand tools and fitting techniques as needed to verify or assist with inspection and fit-up checks.
• Collaborate with team members to identify process improvements and contribute to a culture of quality in the shop.

• 1–2 years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, fabrication, or welding environments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
• Proficiency using measuring tools and inspection equipment such as tape measures, calipers, and gauges.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, inconsistencies, and non-conforming materials.
• Effective problem-solving skills to diagnose quality issues and support corrective actions.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with fabrication, welding, and production teams.
• Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, or shop environments.
• Comfort working around fabrication, carpentry, and welding operations.

• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, or structural steel practices is preferred.
• Experience in container fabrication, custom builds, or similar structural products is beneficial.
• Background using hand tools and fitting techniques in a production or fabrication setting.
• Exposure to carpentry, welding, or metalworking trades.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement concepts in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong organizational skills for maintaining inspection records and documentation.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial manufacturing shop environment with a typical schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including a 30-minute lunch break. Overtime is available and usually not mandatory. The work involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and working in non-climate-controlled conditions. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toe boots, gloves, eye protection, welding hood, and other safety gear as appropriate for the tasks performed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Summerville, SC.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Summerville,SC.
