UNC Health is seeking a Per Diem BC/BE Pediatric Physician to join our Pediatric Hospitalist practice at the large regional campus in Wilmington, NC.

This multi‑specialty practice and children’s hospital is part of an innovative partnership between UNC and Novant Health to provide specialty care to children from communities throughout southeastern and coastal NC. The Novant Health – New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH‑NHRMC) facility and Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital is a full spectrum community‑based, children’s hospital that serves as the tertiary care children’s hospital for southeastern NC.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient care services to newborns, children, and adolescents, including admission, ongoing care, and discharge with in‑house coverage 24/7.
• Perform newborn care procedures such as circumcisions.
• Consult and co‑manage patients in the emergency department and surgical services.
• Teach and evaluate Family Medicine residents, UNC medical students, and UNC Pediatric Hospital Medicine fellows.
• Participate in leadership opportunities within the hospitalist team, if desired.

Qualification Requirements

• Doctorate: MD or DO.
• Pediatrics residency in an accredited program.
• Board certified or eligible in General Pediatrics and/or Hospital Pediatrics.
• Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatric Hospital Medicine preferred but not required.
• Valid North Carolina medical license, DEA license, and BLS certification.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Proficient communication in English.
• High‑level quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills for diagnosing medical and clinical issues.
