Job Title Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Department Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation (PEAR) FTE / Working Schedule 0.10 FTE Typical working schedule for this position is September through March. Some evening and weekend hours are required. Athletic coaching appointments are extended on an annual basis. Position Overview Carleton College, a highly selective liberal arts college, seeks to hire an assistant coach in the Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation (PEAR) Department to assist in phases of a successful and competitive NCAA Division III program. Compensation The expected salary range for this non-benefit eligible position is $1,000-$4,000. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities Assist the Head Coach in the planning and preparation of team training, travel, coaching practices, recruiting, and teaching student-athletes Share in all aspects of recruitment and identify, attract, matriculate and retain outstanding student-athletes to the college Attend meetings related to coaching/teaching: working with the head coach and other staff Complete all required departmental and institutional training and certification programs and participate actively in available professional development opportunities Comply with the policies, rules, and regulations set forth by the NCAA Division III and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (MIAC), Carleton College and the Athletic Department Understand and support students who are balancing multiple responsibilities as students and athletes in a rigorous academic environment Demonstrate the highest level of sportsmanship and conduct during practices and contests Education / Experience / Skills BA or BS degree 1-2 years coaching or playing at the collegiate level Commitment to the student‑athlete, passion for the sport, attention to detail as well as excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills Self‑motivated with the ability to help recruit, teach and coach highly talented scholar‑athletes who can succeed in a challenging academic environment Valid driver’s license. Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels Note: This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
