Leveraging Ginkgo's automation and digital infrastructure, we deliver AI-ready data across ADME profiling, functional genomics, and chemical biology — at industrial scale.Position OverviewWe are seeking an Associate Director of Sales for our Small Molecule Business to join the Ginkgo Datapoints commercial team, reporting to the Head of Business Development. This role is the primary driver of revenue growth for our small molecule services portfolio, spanning ADME profiling and cell perturbation screens. The ideal candidate brings scientific fluency in drug discovery and a demonstrated ability to close commercial deals.Key ResponsibilitiesPipeline & Account ManagementBuild and manage a portfolio of pharma, biotech, and tech accounts from prospecting through closeMaintain a structured sales pipeline using CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot), reporting progress to the Head of BDDevelop account strategies focused on repeat and expanding engagementsDeal ExecutionLead end-to-end commercial negotiations — scoping, pricing, and contract termsPartner with legal, finance, and science teams to structure deals aligned with client and business needsMeet and exceed annual revenue targets for the Small Molecule Services portfolioMarket DevelopmentRepresent Ginkgo Datapoints at industry conferences and scientific forumsConduct competitive landscape analysis to identify growth opportunities in ADME and functional genomicsGather customer feedback to inform service development and go-to-market strategyTechnical SalesServe as a scientific resource for customers, translating the value of Ginkgo Datapoints' data offerings into clear commercial propositionsContribute to proposals, presentations, and white papers demonstrating scientific rigor and data qualityPartner with science and operations teams to ensure successful delivery and high customer satisfactionMinimum QualificationsBS, MS, or PhD in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Chemical Biology, Cell Biology, or a related life sciences field; or a business degree with direct life sciences exposure3–7 years of experience in scientific roles (pharmacology, HTS, functional genomics, or chemical biology) and/or in commercial roles, BD, management consulting or strategic partnerships within life sciencesSelf-starter with strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex science into compelling value propositionsProficiency with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) and AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT)Willingness to travel ~20–30%Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated BD success: identifying leads, navigating complex sales cycles, and closing or materially contributing to dealsHands-on familiarity with ADME assays (metabolic stability, CYP inhibition, permeability,) and/or functional genomics approaches (chemical perturbation with transcriptomic or imaging readouts, CRISPR screens)Why Ginkgo Datapoints?Foundational role in building the commercial engine of a high-growth business unit at the frontier of AI-enabled drug discoveryAccess to Ginkgo's world-class automation, sequencing, and imaging infrastructureCompetitive compensation: base salary, performance bonuses, and stock awardsComprehensive benefits: medical, dental & vision, HSA, 401(k) with employer contribution, 8 paid holidays, full-week winter shutdown, and unlimited PTOThe salary for the role will consist of a base salary and an incentive commission based on quota achievement.
