Roller Operator, Over 5 Tons - 1B (HILO)

POSITION TITLE: Roller Operator, Over 5 Tons-1B (9) COMPANY: Grace Pacific, LLC DEPARTMENT: Paving REPORTS TO: General Foreperson STATUS: Operating Engineers Union Principal Duties Operate paving roller safely on all types of terrain, observing traffic signals, patterns, and congestion. Roll asphalt to meet finish surface specifications, including compaction, surface smoothness, and removal of lines/roller marks. Adjust vibration and amplitude on vibratory roller according to different operating conditions or mixes. Maintain roller by cleaning spray bars and filling tank with water, checking oil and water levels. Check vehicle(s) prior to driving and complete required CDL checklists. Follow DOT, OSHA, and Company safety regulations and policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Principal Requirements High school graduate or equivalent preferred. 5 years paving experience required; knowledge of asphalt mix designs, asphalt temperature, movement, and various finished surfaces. Ability to read, write, and complete equipment reports. Valid license and favorable traffic abstract. CDL Type B with N endorsement required. Ability to rake, operate the screed, and see the crown and swales in the pavement. Ability to work as a team member. Knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations. Must understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Required to lift and carry equipment up to 30 pounds. Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, nights, holidays, weekends as required by the job. This is a union position.
