Key Responsibilities As a Pediatric Physical Therapist, your responsibilities will include: Conducting comprehensive pediatric physical therapy evaluations to assess patients' functional abilities and needs. Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that address specific neurological, orthopedic, or developmental conditions. Utilizing evidence-based interventions to promote patient progress, including therapeutic exercises, modalities, and play-based techniques. Providing education and support to families by outlining home exercise programs and effective treatment strategies tailored to the patient's needs. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals—including physicians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and physical therapist assistants—to ensure comprehensive, well-rounded care. Maintaining clear and accurate documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with state and federal regulations. Participating in regular professional development activities to refine skills and keep current with the latest therapeutic techniques and technologies. Patient Population / Client Focus Your primary focus will be on treating pediatric patients ranging from infants to adolescents, who present with conditions such as developmental delays, physical disabilities, sports injuries, neurological disorders, and other orthopedic challenges. Understanding the unique needs of this population is crucial for creating tailored, effective treatment plans that engage both patients and their families. Qualifications A valid New York State Physical Therapy License is mandatory. Current CPR certification is required to ensure patient safety and preparedness for emergencies. A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from a program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is essential. Strong clinical skills in assessment and diagnosis, coupled with the ability to develop effective treatment plans based on individual patient needs. Excellent communication skills to effectively educate and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Preferred Experience A minimum of two years of experience in pediatric physical therapy is preferred.
