Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a dynamic Medical/Surgical environment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of RN experience with at least 6 months of recent Level 1 trauma experience or experience within larger facilities (400+ beds) that handle a high volume of surgical and acute care patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced Med/Surg setting.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, administering complete care as needed.
• Comfortably handle various procedures including lines and chest tubes.
• Titrate heparin drips and respond to patient tele-monitoring promptly.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in unit-based education and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience with 6 months of recent Level 1 trauma experience, or similar exposure in larger facilities handling high acuity cases.
• Proficient in EPIC charting; no training will be provided during orientation.
• A completed travel assignment is highly preferred but not mandatory.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS certification is required for charge RNs.
• FLU vaccination is mandatory unless a medical accommodation is provided with documentation from a physician.

Unit Details

The available positions are within a Medical/Surgical environment comprising several units with varying bed capacities: 13 beds on 2 West, 14 beds on 6 West, 12 beds on 7 South, 30 beds on 4 Wiser, and 25 beds on 5 Wiser.

• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:5 up to 1:6, adjusted for higher acuity patients.
• Units are equipped with tele-monitoring capability.
• Nurse managers are present during business hours, with adult house supervision available evenings and weekends.
• Educators and managers oversee each unit; smaller units may share leadership resources.
• Each unit is supported with nurse aids and respiratory therapy equipment as needed.

Work Schedule

This position requires 12-hour shifts (7 am-7 pm or 7 pm-7 am) with no self-scheduling. Travelers are expected to be flexible in filling scheduling gaps, while unit managers will strive to accommodate preferences where possible. A commitment to work every other weekend or two weekends per month is standard, with holiday rotations integrated into the schedule. All staff may float between Medical/Surgical units, based on individual skills.

Orientation

Orientation includes an overview of unit policies, completion of paperwork, and system logins. Additionally, new hires will spend time with a preceptor across two shifts to ensure a seamless transition into the team.
