Board Certified Behavior Analyst I

Job Overview The Behavior Analyst I (Board Certified Behavior Analyst I) provides advanced behavior analysis services in a psychiatric hospital setting. Responsibilities include consulting with staff, designing and implementing behavioral therapy programs, and ensuring compliance with Texas administrative codes and joint commission standards. Essential Job Functions Attend work on a regular basis and may perform overtime or extended shifts in accordance with agency leave policy. Observe and assess patients, designing positive interventions for individuals with cognitive, developmental, psychiatric, and physical needs. Consult with staff on preventive approaches to challenging behaviors; write and communicate behavioral support plans; provide in‑person training and updates to the treatment team. Evaluate individual and group behavioral therapy programs and unit milieu management structures; design supplemental therapeutic programs at the individual and group levels. Offer consultative services on patient interaction, behavioral interventions, unit milieu structure, patient‑centered safety plans, and alternatives to seclusion or restraint; review progress and conduct debriefings when restraints occur. Attend and participate in the Behavioral Support Plan Peer Review Committee to ensure compliance with the Texas Administrative Code; approve all hospital behavioral plans. Actively engage in quality management, patient safety, risk management, and infection control programs to meet Joint Commission, CMS, TAC, and state regulations. Perform other duties as assigned, including roles in disaster response or Continuity of Operations activation. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Principles and practices of applied behavior analysis. Behavior support plan development, implementation, and evaluation. Medications used to assist with behavior management. Systems used to track treatment effectiveness. Behavioral service delivery to persons with mental disorders and developmental disabilities. Applicable laws, regulations, and agency policy. Writing and developing complex technical reports and other documents. Computer and software proficiency. Conducting functional behavior assessments. Developing behavior support plans. Evaluating behavioral and program data. Making clinical recommendations. Effective oral and written communication. Registrations and Licensure Must be certified as a Behavior Analyst by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Initial Screening Criteria Six (6) months of experience in psychology and behavior analyst work. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s or higher-level degree in behavior analysis, special education, human services, psychology, or a related field. Two (2) or more years implementing behavioral services with adults with developmental disabilities, substance abuse and/or serious mental illness using a person‑centered approach.
