RSD B5 Finish Assembler

Position Summary The Finish Assembler is responsible for the installation of final parts on fire apparatus as called for in the specifications. This position requires the reading and understanding of specs and blueprints to build fire apparatus. A Finish Assembler will use a variety of basic hand tools along with some welding to complete the installation of final parts to the fire apparatus. Essential Functions All employees are required to support Rosenbauer’s Mission, Vision, and Values. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer. Responsible for the installation of doors, hose beds, and other various parts to complete the fire apparatus. Reads and understands specs and blueprints to build fire apparatus. Utilizes a variety of basic hand tools along with some welding to complete the installation of final parts to the fire apparatus. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members. Qualifications Required Education High School Diploma/GED. Preferred Education None. Required Experience None Preferred Experience None. Position Requirements Strong technical and mechanical aptitude. Able to work proficiently with SolidWorks and DriveWorks. Locate work orders and process them within the time allotment according to the work order, production schedule, and department objectives. Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely and have a basic understanding on how to use basic hand tools, shear, and brake press. Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments. Communicate progress of project to the appropriate Supervisor or Shift Lead. Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book. Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude. You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization. Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments. Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment. Understand the need to support the organization to work effectively by adhering to the attendance and punctuality standards and does not burden co-workers and supervisors unfairly with unnecessary and unplanned absences and lateness. Language Skills Ability to read technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to use effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills Ability to learn how to run a computer terminal or PC. No prior experience required (Incumbent will look up and/or enter information into a pre‑formatted screen.) Decision Making Responsibilities are frequently guided and reviewed by a supervisor. They follow a standard set of instructions that describe the proper procedures for handling problems that may occur. Supervisor or other personnel would handle any problems not covered by these instructions. Working Conditions This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. The temperature rarely varies due to the building being temperature controlled, but it can be humid at times. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop which will cause a difficulty of hearing. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from machines but following proper procedures should minimize risk. This position may require contact with corrosives/oil/detergents but by following safety procedures, risk should be minimized. There is also constant dust and airborne particles due to the plasma cutter being in use. Sometimes this position requires to be above floor level and work in confined spaces. Physical Demands This position requires standing, walking, and the use of hands for the entire shift. It can become very loud in the shop with many machines being used at once. With constant noise, talking or hearing can be difficult. During shifts, some projects require the use of hands, fingers, and arms for over 60 minutes, and the use of feet, legs, back, and shoulders could be required for up to 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception.
