Cougar Parent & Family Engagement Center Program Manager II

Department : Cougar Parents & Family Center Salary : 49,400 - 56,200 Description: Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.

1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
2. Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
4. Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
5. Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
8. May serve as property custodian for the department.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None. Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience. Position Summary: The Program Manager II serves as a key member of the Cougar Parent & Family Engagement Center (CPFEC) and provides programmatic leadership for initiatives supporting parenting students and the families and supporters of University of Houston students. Reporting to the Associate Director, this position develops, implements, coordinates, and assesses programs and services that strengthen student success, belonging, family engagement, and connection to the University. As a member of a growing office, the Program Manager II will help develop programs, strengthen processes, cultivate campus partnerships, identify emerging needs, and contribute to the continued growth of CPFEC. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, creativity, collaboration, adaptability, accountability, and a genuine commitment to the populations served by the Center. Primary Responsibilities: Parenting Student Support & Engagement Develop, coordinate, and assess programs, workshops, meetups, and community-building opportunities for parenting students. Support signature initiatives including Parenting Student Graduation and other emerging parenting student programs. Develop and maintain resources related to childcare, lactation support, financial resources, academic support, campus services, and community resources. Promote awareness and utilization of CPFEC resources, including the Coog Cubs Diaper Depot, Coog Cubs Closet, and Cougar Lactation Support Stations. Connect parenting students with appropriate university and community resources and referral pathways. Collaborate with campus partners to provide education and resource awareness regarding support and protections available to pregnant and parenting students. Develop opportunities for peer connection, mentorship, leadership, and community among parenting students. Family & Supporter Engagement: Develop and coordinate programs that engage parents, families, caregivers, chosen family, and other student supporters. Provide programmatic leadership for signature initiatives including Family Weekend and Fam Fest. Coordinate educational sessions, webinars, social programs, orientation programming, and other family engagement opportunities throughout the academic year. Develop virtual engagement opportunities for families and supporters who may not regularly participate in on-campus programming. Collaborate with UH Coog Moms and campus partners on programs and initiatives supporting Cougar families. Identify emerging family and supporter needs and recommend new programs, resources, and engagement strategies. Program Management, Partnerships & Assessment: Develop annual programming plans, timelines, goals, and measurable outcomes for assigned areas. Coordinate program logistics including registration, facilities, vendors, volunteers, supplies, communications, and accessibility needs. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with campus departments, student organizations, and community partners. Collect and analyze participation, engagement, and assessment data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement. Prepare program reports, maintain program documentation, and contribute to the development of sustainable office procedures and practices. Support program-related communications through Cougar Family Connect/CampusESP and other university communication platforms. Manage assigned program budgets and expenditures in accordance with university policies. Represent CPFEC at orientations, resource fairs, university programs, meetings, and outreach opportunities. Assist with student employee and volunteer training and supervision, as appropriate. Support special projects and other initiatives that advance the mission and continued development of CPFEC. Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Characteristics: The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Genuine interest in supporting parenting students, families, caregivers, and student support systems. Experience developing student engagement, family engagement, student support, or community-building programs. Ability to independently move programs from concept through implementation, assessment, and improvement. Strong communication, organization, project-management, and relationship-building skills. Initiative, creativity, accountability, and consistent follow-through. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team. Adaptability and comfort working within a growing office where programs and processes continue to evolve. Ability to develop collaborative relationships across departments and with community partners. Experience using assessment and participation data to improve programs and services. Sound professional judgment and the ability to appropriately refer students and families to specialized university resources. Work Expectations: Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support signature programs, Family Weekend, Fam Fest, orientation activities, and other CPFEC initiatives.
