About The Role
Summary
The Chief Credit Officer (CCO) participates as a member of the Executive Management Committee in defining and executing the Bank’s strategic direction and objectives and also participates as a member of various management committees. The CCO has primary responsibility for the Bank’s loan portfolio, including long term strategic development of lending practices, policies, and objectives; establishes loan portfolio mix and monitors loan, geographic, and concentrations; and closely monitors and improves lending risk controls and credit quality of the Bank. Responsible for the management and performance of direct reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Overseeing the credit approval process, as well as portfolio monitoring systems for all current and future credit products.
- Ensuring that credit policies are routinely reviewed, modified as necessary, and well-communicated throughout the organization.
- Ensure that loan loss reserve and charge-off process and procedures are consistent with industry best practices and meet current and anticipated accounting and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensuring that loan documentation, systems and procedures are consistent with the highest standards in the industry and are appropriate for all regulatory requirements.
- Ensuring that all loan systems and tracking techniques provide the appropriate type and amount of information to executive management and the Board of Directors, to allow for accurate assessment of loan quality and risk management.
- Providing overall loan portfolio management oversight to ensure that the Bank’s asset quality meets stated objectives and that the emphasis of the Bank’s overall credit relationship management is consistent with the Bank’s underwriting standards. This includes analysis of loan concentrations by loan type as well as by geographical footprint, including past dues.
- Supporting diversification of the loan portfolio by establishing appropriate credit policies and proper training of relationship bankers, loan specialists, and loan processors.
- Providing quantitative oversight of the Bank’s credit extension activities, to include conducting ongoing evaluation of existing systems and, when appropriate, evaluation, selection and implementation of new systems to ensure that all policies and procedures are of the highest integrity and consistency.
- Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including: hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination, as appropriate.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
- Complete required bank training courses within assigned time frame(s). It is the individual learner’s responsibility to ensure that they understand the information given to them in each training. If the learner does not understand the information given, they need to reach out to their supervisor for further clarification or additional training.
- Interface and work with; credit administrator, quality control, audit, compliance, loan review and regulators.
- Develop and manage loan analyst system for the division.
- Work closely with division loan ops personnel.
- Work closely with all division lenders and offer performance input to their designated branch president.
- Visit all branches on a regular basis as needed to meet with lenders, potential customers and existing customers.
- Manage division director loan committee and management loan committee.
- Manage submission and presentation of credits to executive loan committee.
- Implement and communicate updates to all loan policies, procedures and systems.

- Regular and predictable attendance in order to accomplish, among other things, in-person contact with customers.

About You
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in lending and a preferred minimum of five years leading the credit function for a business comparable in size, portfolio mix, and complexity of a 650-million-dollar bank.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Graduate degree in banking, business administration, or equivalent preferred.
Required Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

WORKING CONDITIONS OF THIS POSITION
- Frequent local travel.

Simple Algebra: Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price; and ratio, proportion, and percentage. Able to perform very simple algebra.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Complex: Ability to read periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ability to prepare business letters, proposals, summaries, and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Ability to conduct training, communicate at panel discussions, and make professional presentations.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position. We offer an extensive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. PTO accruals begin at .0745 per hour worked for our part time employees up to a maximum accrual of 240 hours per year for certain Full-Time employees. PTO accruals are dependent on position, status (Full time or Part time), and years of experience in accordance with our PTO policy. Most Full-Time employees are also offered 6 paid holidays and Part Time employees are offered pro-rated paid holidays.
