Ophthalmic ScribeOphthalmology Consultants is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe to join our team in Des Peres, MO. This position is 100% on-site with travel to other locations in the St. Louis metro area as needed. You may need to work a little earlier or later as needed.The primary goal of a Scribe is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician they are working for. This employee allows the doctor to focus on what is most important, the patient.Essential duties and responsibilities include accurately and thoroughly documenting medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, operating the electronic medical records of patients, demonstrating a basic understanding of examination and procedure codes when inputting into the EMR system, ensuring accurate procedure coding/charges for all procedures/drugs for all patients and correct diagnosis codes are used, anticipating physician needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic, opening and closing exam rooms as needed, helping with testing and keeping rooms filled to maintain flow of the clinic, being discreet, tactful, and modest in performance of the duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care, having good judgment, organization ability, attention to detail, and ability to be self-motivated, being willing to travel between offices, and performing other duties as assigned.Qualifications include working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations, efficient use of EMR and ability to accurately record information, good typing, spelling, grammar and oral communication skills, communication skills and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the health care team, organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow, compliance with HIPAA confidentiality standards when communicating patient information, providing excellent patient care and being energetic and empathetic with patients, consistently displaying positive rapport with fellow employees, cooperating with supervisory staff and physicians, and demonstrating flexibility in job assignment.Education and/or experience required include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) certification is preferred, but not required.Systems and technology requirements include proficient keyboarding skills, use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and image management system, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications.Physical requirements include frequent walking, sitting, and standing, with regular bending, stooping, and reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items up to 25 lbs, strong fine motor skills and full use of hands, visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—required 100% of the time, and occasional driving or climbing.
