Retirement Eligibility: TRS Eligible Position Overview The Correctional Medicine Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is hiring a Clinical Operation Coordinator. Responsibilities include oversight and support of the clinical operations of UNTHSC’s Comprehensive Medical Services contract with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to meet performance requirements and enhance the contract relationship. Key Responsibilities Coordinate, oversee, and monitor clinical operational requirements: clinical scheduling, onsite clinic operations, credentialing, security clearances, and Correctional Network Provider and Facility support. Assist in developing and maintaining departmental policies and procedures related to the clinical operations component of BOP contracts. Maintain open communication on all clinical operations issues with CMD staff and senior managers. Coordinate onsite specialty clinics to ensure BOP Health Services staff support UNTHSC operations in line with contract terms. Monitor monthly clinic calendars at each facility to ensure routine scheduling. Ensure clinic providers have necessary support including documentation, staffing, equipment, and supplies. Provide feedback to BOP Health Services and CMD Executive staff on negative trends in clinic operations and quality of care. Provide clinical scheduling for off‑site appointments and procedures as needed. Coordinate performance improvement plans with CMD clinical staff and BOP Health Services. Participate in Utilization Review, Status, and other special meetings, offering constructive input and feedback. Perform additional duties as assigned to support CMD and UNTHSC missions, including training and backup coverage. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and current Medical Assistant Certificate plus seven (7) years of experience in a hospital and/or ambulatory care setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Valid Texas LVN License preferred but not required. Required License / Registration / Certifications Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and current Medical Assistant Certificate. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to coordinate, oversee, and monitor clinical scheduling, operations, and performance on health care contracts. Computer literate and technologically competent to communicate in written and electronic media at all levels within a health care organization. Knowledge of clinical scheduling software, electronic medical record systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently while meeting deadlines. Physical Requirements Repeating motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers. Sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing. Movement between work sites or within work areas. Ability to move into tight and confined spaces. Communication with others to exchange information. Environmental Hazards No adverse environmental conditions expected.
