Companion Roommate

Hope Services is looking for a Compassionate Companion Roommate to support adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. The role involves providing social and recreational support, assisting with daily living skills, and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment. Responsibilities Provide companionship and friendship to the consumer. Assist in developing and expanding participation in leisure activities. Ensure integration of the consumer into community activities, events, and services. Maintain a safe environment, provide protective supervision, and advocate on behalf of the consumer. Help develop and maintain a circle of support, building relationships with family, friends, and neighbors. Provide daily living skills training and support, assisting the consumer in maintaining positive health and home. Offer transportation to the consumer, using public transportation, own car, or other approved means. Communicate all consumer-related information to appropriate staff in a timely manner. Act as a mandated abuse reporter. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure quality services. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, plus related experience working with people with disabilities in a rehabilitation environment. Valid California driver’s license, clear driving record, and auto insurance. Completion and clearance of fingerprints for DOJ criminal background check. Working Conditions The work environment involves travel to the consumer’s home neighborhood, providing physical and emotional support in community-based activities. Exposure to outdoor weather, dust, and pollens; use of typical home appliances and special assistive equipment.
