IBH Family Support Specialist

Under the direction of the Integrated Behavioral Health Clinician and within an interdisciplinary team, the Family Support Specialist (FSS) provides treatment and support services to patients at Valleywise Community Health Centers (CHC), clinics, and in the community. FSS services include but are not limited to connecting with others through workshops, groups, and one-on-one support. In this role, you will help increase the understanding of mental health or substance use disorders, assist others in learning about and navigating the public health system, provide referrals to community resources, and educate on coping, self-care, and advocacy. The position provides recovery-oriented family support services as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support families in having a voice and a choice, connecting them with community resources and services, engaging family members to strengthen natural supports, stabilizing psychiatric symptoms, relapse prevention planning, and developing a clear path to recovery. These services may be provided to a person, group, or family and are aimed at assisting in the creation of skills to promote long-term, sustainable recovery. The Family Support Specialist also helps the team, individuals served, and their families to maximize and enhance patient experience and choice, self-determination, and decision-making in the planning and coordinating services.
Annual Salary Range: $48,006.40 - $70,803.20 Qualifications- Must meet one of the following combinations of Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Behavioral Health or
- Any other Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of full-time behavioral health work experience or
- Any Associate's Degree and two (2) years of full-time behavioral health work experience or
- Eighteen (18) credit hours of post-high school education in a field related to behavioral health and two (2) years of full-time behavioral health work experience or
- A high school diploma or GED and four (4) years of full-time behavioral health work experience.
- Prefer Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Family Studies, or related human service field or an equivalent combination of training and progressively responsible experience that will result in the required specialized knowledge and abilities to perform the assigned work.
- Must have knowledge of Family Support, Family Psychoeducation, and recovery principles and practices.
- Credentialed as a Family Support Specialist in Arizona within 18 months.
- Must obtain fingerprint card as defined in Arizona Statute (A.R.S.) 36-425.03 and state licensing rule R9-10-1011(A)(4) within 90 days of employment.
- Requires BLS through an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training center within three (3) months of hire into the position.
- Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid AZ issued driver's license in good standing, and must carry the AZ legally required minimum insurance coverage on personal vehicle at all times.
- Requires excellent organizational skills, working with professionals, and maintaining confidentiality standards.

- Must have strong public speaking skills.

- Must be able to communicate effectively and have excellent customer service skills.
- Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism, customer service, and enthusiasm.
- Must possess solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English, including professional-level grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Must be a self-starter and able to work on their own, as well as work effectively in a multidisciplinary team with adults, families, and children
- Requires knowledge of community resources and knowledge of the DSM-5 (Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - Fifth Edition).
- Must have awareness and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
- Must have time management, flexibility, and positive customer service orientation skills.
