YOUR ROLE You will be a curious and collaborative engineer focused on tackling hard problems and finding innovative solutions. Your responsibilities include: Support customers using Wind River Systems products (on‑prem and SaaS) to develop cutting‑edge IoT and embedded system devices. Work with standard off‑the‑shelf and custom hardware designs and systems, troubleshooting both OS‑level and hardware‑software interaction issues across the customer lifecycle. Duplicate customer environments, systems, and devices in our labs to anticipate or investigate root causes and provide high‑quality solutions. Collaborate with end‑users, stakeholders, and developers within Wind River customer support operations to assess, troubleshoot, and solve complex multi‑layered issues (hardware, software, and everything in between). Core Competencies & Demonstrated Success Provide support to customers encountering problems on Wind River’s products. Communicate effectively with customers and account teams to resolve issues. Handle customer and defect escalations and document solutions accurately. Develop technical content for the online support site and contribute to knowledge bases. Mentor and provide training to local and global Customer Support Engineers. Act as a single point of contact (Premium Support Engineer) for Premium Support customers when needed. Contribute proactively to support process improvement activities. Qualifications BS or MS in Computer Science or related field. 8–12 years of experience with RTOSes such as embedded Linux, with 3–5 years of customer‑facing experience preferred. Experience with binary Linux distributions (Debian, CentOS). Background in Device Drivers, BSP, hardware design, networking, and embedded system technologies. Proficiency in high‑level languages and applications (C/C++, Rust, Python). Understanding of applications running in the Cloud as SaaS and familiarity with relevant tools. Experience with DevOps CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Git (GitHub/GitLab). Experience in Linux and Windows host environments. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills in real‑time embedded environments. Knowledge of major processor families (PowerPC, Intel, ARM, RISC‑V) including multi‑core. Understanding of networking applications, core TCP/IP, multicasting, routing, and networking security. Familiarity with technologies such as NFV, OpenStack, DPDK, DPI, SDN, virtualized Linux, VOIP, and networking security is a plus. Excellent teamwork, communication, and self‑management skills. Ability to handle multiple products simultaneously and train less experienced engineers. Leadership skills to lead projects and make independent decisions. Compensation The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is $130,000 to $180,000 plus a bonus for Washington, DC residents. Employees are also eligible for health, dental, vision, life insurance, flex‑time off, 401(k) enrollment, and 12 paid holidays. Security Clearance Requirements Successful candidates must undertake a security clearance process based on citizenship to perform fundamental job duties, per applicable law.
