Job Description Communication is the pulse of Army National Guard units. The Signal Support Systems Specialist ensures that information flows smoothly, preventing the military from missing a beat. Responsibilities Integrate signal systems and networks. Perform signal support functions and unit‑level maintenance on authorized signal equipment. Install, operate, and maintain radio and data distribution systems. Maintain radio and data distribution systems. Provide signal support functions and technical assistance for computer systems. Provide technical assistance and training for local area networks. Maintain equipment, terminal devices, assigned vehicles, and power generators. Supervise and train other soldiers; operate and perform preventative maintenance checks and services on assigned vehicles. Skills You’ll Learn Mechanical and electrical principles. Preventive maintenance procedures. Line installation and wiring techniques. Communication security policies and procedures. Helpful Skills Interest in working with electronic equipment. Interest in problem solving. Through training, veterans will acquire skills that translate into civilian careers in communications and electronics.
