Catering Sales Manager

Reports To: Director of Operations / Owner Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt Overview The Catering Sales Manager (CSM) is responsible for developing and managing the catering business for Tacos 1986. This role focuses on building strong relationships with clients, generating new sales opportunities, and ensuring that all catering events reflect the quality, hospitality, and brand standards of Tacos 1986. The CSM is a strategic and hands-on sales professional who thrives in both relationship-building and operational execution. This role is key to expanding brand presence beyond the restaurant walls and driving incremental revenue through catering, pop-ups, festivals, and corporate partnerships. Also, this role is joined by the Events Coordinator and the Operations Manager. Key Responsibilities Proactively identify and pursue new catering leads and partnerships with corporate clients, production studios, festivals, hotels, businesses, event coordinators, and local organizations in all neighborhoods Tacos 1986 is in. Establish relationships with local schools for fundraisers at all stores. Lead Community Outreach with neighboring businesses to introduce our Catering packages, but also to support in-store foot traffic with surrounding workforce, Develop and maintain relationships with repeat and high-value clients. Create proposals, quotes, and contracts that reflect Tacos 1986’s brand and pricing strategy. Conduct outbound calls, visits, and tastings to secure new business. Maintain an organized sales pipeline and track progress toward monthly and annual targets. Optimize current in-store catering offerings from food setup to catering portals such as EZ Cater and Foodja. Optimize on-site catering by ensuring the setup is competitive up to clients revolving requests and needs. CSM will work closely with Events Coordinator and Operations Manager to coordinate and execute all events. Coordinate with the catering team all logistics to ensure successful execution of all events. Communicate with Events Coordinator clients’ menu details, delivery timelines, and setup requirements. Oversee and support on-site catering events team as needed to ensure exceptional guest experience. Manage post-event follow-up and client satisfaction feedback. Work with Events Coordinator or General Managers to track all catering orders, invoices, and payments accurately. Report weekly sales activity, leads, and performance to the Director of Operations or Owner. Monitor catering expenses and ensure profitability targets are met. Collaborate with marketing on promotional materials and social media outreach for catering. Brand Representation Represent Tacos 1986 professionally at all client meetings and community events. Uphold and promote the brand’s mission, hospitality, and cultural values. Ensure that every catering experience matches the in-store Tacos 1986 quality and energy. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in catering sales, event management, or hospitality business development. Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals. Strong client relationship management and communication skills. Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Comfortable working in both office and field settings. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Passion for great food, hospitality, and community engagement.
