Assignment Details:
- Guaranteed Hours: 40
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements:
- Masters degree required
- Speech & Language Pathologist license required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
- Prior experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and treat individuals with communication disorders and dysphagia, including conducting modified barium swallow studies.
- Develop and implement a therapeutic plan of care based on evaluation results.
- Collaborate with residents and their caregivers to ensure the therapeutic plan meets their needs and goals.
- Provide consultation to the interdisciplinary care team regarding residents' therapeutic and discharge needs.
- Document all clinical interactions and ensure accessibility of records within the care team.
- Recommend and instruct on the use of assistive communication and swallowing devices.
- Educate residents and caregivers effectively about treatment processes and expected outcomes.
Compliance / Notes:
Maintains required licenses, certifications, and competences, completing annual compliance courses on time.
