This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Work is performed under attorney supervision with a high degree of independence on routine matters.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesCase Management and Strategy SupportAssist with case management from intake through resolutionMaintain comprehensive case files with focus on substantive organization and usabilityTrack case developments and maintain case status reportsOrganize evidence, exhibits, and case materials for attorney reviewMaintain chronologies, fact summaries, and case timelinesAssist attorneys with case strategy and analysisPleadings and Motion PracticeDraft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda under attorney supervisionPrepare responses to motions and oppositionsDraft discovery requests and responses (interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission)Prepare subpoenas and coordinate serviceFormat and finalize legal documents in accordance with court rules and firm standardsE-file documents in state and federal courts using electronic filing systemsDiscovery ManagementCoordinate and prepare discovery (requests, responses, document production)Review, organize, and summarize documents for case strategy and trial preparationAssist with document review for relevance, privilege, and responsivenessPrepare privilege logs and document indicesOrganize and manage large-scale document productionsCoordinate with vendors for e-discovery and document management servicesTrack discovery deadlines and ensure timely complianceLegal Research and AnalysisConduct legal and factual research using legal databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis) and public recordsAnalyze and summarize case law, statutes, and regulationsPrepare legal memoranda and research summariesAssist with cite-checking and bluebooking briefs and memorandaResearch procedural rules and filing requirementsDeposition and Trial PreparationAssist with deposition preparation including outlines, exhibits, and witness coordinationPrepare deposition summaries and indicesOrganize deposition transcripts and exhibitsCoordinate expert witnesses, consultants, and vendorsPrepare trial binders, exhibit lists, and witness listsOrganize trial materials including demonstrative exhibits and technology presentationsAssist with witness preparation and coordinationAttend depositions, hearings, and trials as needed to provide support to attorneysPrepare post-trial motions and assist with appeals coordinationClient and Stakeholder CommunicationCommunicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and vendors regarding substantive legal mattersRespond to client inquiries regarding case status and legal strategyCoordinate with co-counsel and experts on case-related mattersMaintain professional relationships with court personnel and opposing counselDeadline and Docket ManagementManage and track deadlines, court dates, and filings in firm docketing systems and shared calendarsMonitor court dockets for case updates and new filingsEnsure compliance with court rules, filing deadlines, and procedural requirementsCoordinate scheduling of depositions, hearings, and other case eventsDocument Management and RecordkeepingFollow firm SOPs for document naming and storageLeverage NetDocs to manage filesUtilize approved templatesManage attorney signatures for filingsTrack expense reports and credit card receipts; file in accordance with firm standards and processesPhysical Requirements and Work EnvironmentPrimarily sedentary office work with occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 poundsExtended periods of computer use and detailed document reviewMay require frequent overtime during trial preparation, discovery deadlines, or other time-sensitive mattersMay require occasional travel to courts, depositions, or client officesStandard professional office environment; hybrid remote/in-office arrangements may be available per firm policyEqual Employment Opportunity and AccommodationsFBFK Law is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under federal, state, or local law.
