DSHS SCC Registered Nurse 4 The Nurse Manager ensures day-to-day operations of the Medical Discharge Program through active supervision of nursing staff and implementation of discharge planning treatment and services. Major responsibilities include program needs assessment and development to ensure that the discharge plans are implemented with best practice as identified in the scientific literature. Oversees the quality of services provided and implements quality assurance practices. The Nurse Manager provides medical consultation, nursing supervision, and guidance related to discharge related treatment plan adherence. This position oversees 3 nursing staff which includes licensed registered nurse level staff. This position implements procedures related to Discharge Services as assigned by the Medical Director. The incumbent makes recommendations for patient care decisions including care planning, medical management, and the discharge/transfer of patients to less restrictive care settings. This position plays a critical role in statewide initiatives by participating in multiprogram cross systems mapping/value stream mapping projects in an effort to enhance patient service needs and better bridge state resources. The job is based on McNeil Island and requires ferry travel from Steilacoom, which is provided to employees. The ferry ride is approximately 20 minutes each way. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. SCC employees receive an additional $10 per day premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and a free ORCA card for transportation use. Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Some Of What You'll Do The RN4 will coordinate and delegate site visits to facilities in the community to the RN2 team and review assessments of these housing options for successful resident placement. The RN4 will consult on determining the level of assistance and other variables that each resident may need and best match it to the appropriate facility. This position holder will be responsible for conducting audits for facilities to assess whether needs for the residents are being met and report back to the Medical Director, Contract Manager, Director of Discharge Planning, and the Executive Leadership Team. This position will be responsible for establishing a system to track each resident’s Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Assessment, Medication assessment and deciding best practice on training residents’ on medication identification, schedule, purpose and side effects. This position supports the residential facility for developmentally disabled, and other special medical needs residents. The RN4 will be required to supervise and direct all nursing activities for conditionally released residents on a 24-hour basis. This may include specific care coordination in emergency situations or during transport back to the main facility following community return. The RN4 will be expected to develop comprehensive wellness plans with regards to individual resident conditions and advise on weight loss, exercise, nutrition, and management of chronic conditions on a case by case basis. This position will also be responsible for conducting audits for Keep on Person (KOP) medications for residents approaching discharge to LRAs. We're Looking For RNs Who Have Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing Four years of professional nursing experience, including two years in a lead capacity over other nursing personnel. A Bachelor's degree or higher degree involving major study in nursing may be substituted for two years of nonsupervisory experience. One year of full-time experience teaching nursing may be substituted for one year of supervisory experience. Questions? Holidays Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year. Note: Employees who are members of certain Unions may be entitled to additional personal leave day(s), please refer to position specific Collective Bargaining Agreements for more information. Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday. Part-time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro-rata basis. Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Pay status includes hours worked and time on paid leave. Sick Leave Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Overtime exempt employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month do not earn a monthly accrual of sick leave. Sick leave accruals for part‑time employees will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full‑time employment. Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday. Vacation (Annual Leave) Full‑time employees accrue vacation leave at the rates specified in WAC 357‑31‑165(1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Full‑time employees who are in pay status for less than 80 nonovertime hours in a month do not earn a monthly accrual of vacation leave. Part‑time employees accrue vacation leave hours in accordance with WAC 357‑31‑165(1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on a pro‑rata basis. Vacation leave accrual will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full‑time employment. Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave, and paid holiday. As provided in WAC 357‑58‑175, an employer may authorize a lump‑sum accrual of vacation leave or accelerate the vacation leave accrual rate to support the recruitment and/or retention of a candidate or employee for a Washington Management Service position. Vacation leave accrual rates may only be accelerated using the rates established WAC 357‑31‑165. Note: Most agencies follow the civil service rules covering leave and holidays for exempt employees even though there is no requirement for them to do so. However, agencies are required to adhere to the applicable RCWs pertaining holidays and leave. Military Leave Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Bereavement Leave Most employees whose family member or household member dies, or for loss of pregnancy, are entitled to five (5) days of paid bereavement leave. In addition, the employer may approve other available leave types for the purpose of bereavement leave.
