Description Of Work

This position ensures that the Farm Show Complex receives reliable heating and cooling throughout all seasons while supporting the safe and efficient operation of major mechanical systems. As a HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

• System Operation: Regulate heating and cooling equipment to maintain proper facility conditions
• Equipment Oversight: Supervise staff and guide repairs on boilers, chillers, pumps, valves, fittings, and related components
• Mechanical Maintenance: Maintain and repair mechanical equipment connected to boiler, chiller, and HVAC systems
• Monitoring Tasks: Read gauges, charts, and computer controls to identify needed operational changes
• Water Testing: Test and treat boiler, chilled water, heating, and cooling tower systems to maintain safe chemical levels
• Operational Support: Assist with preventative maintenance, housekeeping routines, and general plant operation needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the Cooling Season; Wednesday - Sunday 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM during the Heating Season.
• This position is considered essential and as such is required to report to working during emergencies and office closings.
• Free on-site parking
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, units, and equipment; or
• Completion of a three-year Vo-Tech training program in refrigeration, HVAC, or building automation and six months experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems, related digitally controlled equipment, or BA systems; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of HVAC or refrigeration equipment.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires an EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Experience working with boilers, gas-fired hot air systems, heat pump and chilled water systems, and DX AC.
• Experience working at high altitudes on ladders.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
