Project Accountant

Job Title: Project Accountant Industry: Finance & Accounting Location: College Park, GA | Full Time Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000 / Year Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits Work Schedule: Full-time, business hours Position Summary We are looking for a Senior Accountant with a strong foundation in GAAP to support our finance and accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for managing the full accounting lifecycle across a diverse project portfolio, including cost accounting, general ledger maintenance, and revenue recognition. This position works cross-functionally with project managers, finance leadership, and other departments in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Responsibilities General Accounting & Reporting Prepare and post monthly journal entries including revenue, accruals, and prepaid expenses Perform bank and account reconciliations and budget variance analysis Reconcile billed and unbilled receivables against revenue activity and resolve discrepancies Prepare closing general ledger entries for cash, accruals, and accounts payable Assist with ad hoc reporting and audit support on a quarterly and as-needed basis Project Accounting Manage the full lifecycle of project accounting from account setup through project close-out Track project budgets, validate invoices, and reconcile project payables and receivables Review and interpret contract documents to ensure proper billing and revenue recognition treatment Coordinate with the contracts department and project managers to confirm invoicing requirements Partner with project managers to develop project structures that align with billing, revenue, and cost accumulation needs Provide accounting recommendations when contract modifications or budget changes occur Billing Prepare client billings across multiple contract types including Cost Plus, Time & Materials, and Fixed Price Conduct monthly revenue reviews and research and resolve unexplained variances Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience 1–3 years of experience in a government contracting environment Proficiency in Oracle and/or Deltek Costpoint Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and data sorting and filtering Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Preferred Master's degree in Accounting or Business Experience with big data analysis Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
