Senior Counsel, Enterprise Functions
AbbVie
Senior Counsel position supporting AbbVie's Enterprise Procurement Legal function. The role involves preparing, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements across multiple business units, managing legal matters, and mentoring legal staff and external counsel.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including MSAs, software licensing, cloud services, and AI vendor contracts
- Provide legal counsel on business transactions, supplier issues, and dispute resolution matters
- Manage and direct work of paralegals, external counsel, and contract attorneys
- Mentor less experienced attorneys and paralegals on legal matters
- Represent the company to external clients, suppliers, and stakeholders on legal issues
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree and state bar certification
- 5+ years corporate or transactional law experience; 8+ years preferred
- Pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry background
- Demonstrated success negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and client communication skills
- Knowledge of data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and intellectual property beneficial
