Doniphan-Trumbull Public Schools is seeking a Coach / Sponsor for the Activities Department. The ideal candidate will have a high school degree or GED, and preferably a Nebraska Teaching or Administrative and Supervisory Certificate, with a Special Services Certificate in coaching. First Aid and CPR training is required and must be kept current. A motor vehicle operator's license with a certificate to operate a school van is necessary. Coaching experience is preferred.

The coach will report to the Activities Director and will be responsible for overseeing and managing the assigned team, determining athlete participation during practices and games, promoting the athletic program within the schools and the community, assisting in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches, coordinating with the Activities Director in planning and scheduling practices, competitions, and more. The coach will also supervise locker rooms and playing areas, remain with students during away events, oversee injured athletes, care for and maintain equipment, and work closely with custodians in control at facilities. Additionally, the coach will serve as a role model to all students, maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration, adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives, and maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.

The essential functions of the Coach position include regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job, the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities, and the ability to perform the following identified physical requirements:

Stamina:

Sitting, Walking, Standing, Sprinting/Running

Flexibility:

Bending or twisting at the neck more than the average person, Bending or twisting at the trunk more than the average person, Squatting/Stooping/Kneeling, Reaching above the head, Reaching forward, Repeating the same hand, arm or finger motion many times (For example: typing, data entry, etc.)

Activities:

Climbing (on ladders, into large trucks/vehicles, etc.), Hand/grip strength, Driving on the job, Typing non-stop

Use of Arms and Hands:

Manual dexterity (screwing a lid on a jar), Finger dexterity (typing)

Lifting Requirements:

Lifting up to 10 pounds (Floor to waist, Waist to shoulder, Shoulder to overhead), Lifting 11 to 25 pounds (Floor to waist, Waist to shoulder, Shoulder to overhead), Lifting 26 to 50 pounds (Floor to waist, Waist to shoulder, Shoulder to overhead), Lifting 51 to 75 pounds (Floor to waist, Waist to shoulder, Shoulder to overhead), Lifting 76 plus pounds (Floor to waist, Waist to shoulder, Shoulder to overhead), Can load/items weighing over 50 pounds that are lifted or carried be shared, or reduced into smaller loads?

Pushing/Pulling:

25 to 50 pounds, 51 to 75 pounds, 76 to 90 pounds, Over 90 pounds

Carrying:

10 to 25 pounds, 26 to 50 pounds, 51 to 75 pounds, 76 to 90 pounds, Over 90 pounds
