TITLE: Custodian / Facilities (Possible multiple openings)


REPORTS TO: Operations Supervisor


REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 1 year experience in general school facility custodial maintenance.


WORK YEAR: Full Year - 2nd Shift - Receive $1.25/hour differential in pay when working 2nd shift

Essential Functions :

Facility Cleaning

1. Maintain building facility cleaning and provide appropriate trash disposal in assigned areas of the school.
2. Provide support for equipment set up on building functions as assigned.
3. Working knowledge of cleaning spills and potential biohazards
4. Insure safe and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Insure that you know and understand Hazard Communication Standard (formally MSDS) for every cleaning compound, chemicals or substances utilized.
5. Maintain inventory of necessary cleaning materials and equipment.
6. Provide support for ice and snow removal as requested by the Facility Director or Facility Supervisor to insure safety of students and faculty.
7. Provide support to grounds, receiving and maintenance support when requested by the Facilities Manager.
8. Provide additional support as requested by the Facility Supervisor or Facility Director.

Education, Training and Experience:


High School Degree required. Minimum l year experience in general school facility custodial maintenance.

This position is frequently required to stand, walk, or climb; must be able to handle, or feel objects, tools, or work on ladders; must be able to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges.

Supervision :

Supervision Scope: Performs routine duties that are clearly defined by protocol and standard operating procedures. This role requires basic knowledge of custodial / departmental operations.

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Facility Supervisor and Facility Director.

Supervision Given: None.

Job Environment:

• Work is performed under typical office/school conditions; environment is moderately noisy.
• May interact with other school staff and teachers.
• Errors in judgment could result in hardship to the students and the school, lower standards of service to the community, monetary loss or legal repercussions and possible negative public relations for both.
