Sales and Relationship Management Associate (New York)

OVERVIEW:

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a detail-oriented sales and relationship management associate to join its Investor Relations team. The team partners with stakeholders across the firm to cultivate and manage relationships with clients and prospects, supporting commercial initiatives and strategic projects. This position provides the opportunity to contribute to the firm’s business development efforts, gain exposure to investment capabilities, and collaborate in a collegial environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

Support relationship managers in cultivating relationships with investors and prospects, provide timely and accurate responses to inbound requests, and keep investors informed about firm and strategy developments. Play an important role in the management of longer-term projects, including the design and upkeep of robust product development and prospecting processes. Become well versed in the firm's investment capabilities, financial concepts, and capital markets. Develop a deep understanding of clients and prospects, their businesses, and their relationships with the firm.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

A bachelor's degree, a record of academic and professional achievement, and at least one to four years of financial market experience. A process-oriented mindset, the ability to execute short-term tasks while managing long-term projects effectively, and the desire to work as part of a team. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, proven project management skills, and keen attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with colleagues of varying seniorities across the firm. An ambitious, commercially minded approach, a readiness to take initiative, and the desire to grow professionally in a rigorous and collaborative environment. Demonstrated application of AI, specifically the use of AI to transform operational processes and workflows. Previous experience in business development or relationship management and familiarity with financial concepts and language are preferred. The expected annual base salary for this position is $140,000 to $180,000.
