Job Description
PACU RN - Inpatient (Phase I/II PACU)

Schedule

12-hour shifts, guaranteed 36 hours/week, with options for 36 or 48 hours. One weekend shift per month is required. Call shifts may be scheduled at a frequency of 1-2 overnight calls monthly.

Assignment Details

Minimum assignment length is 10 weeks. Orientation duration is 24 hours. The facility may call off clinicians up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience.
• Experience in a Level I trauma facility and telemetry is required.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
• Preferred: Phase II PACU experience and prior pre/post cath and IR procedure experience.
• Must be willing to perform pre-op duties.
• Charting system: Cerner.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients recovering in the PACU post-surgery.
• Monitor vital signs and manage ventilated patients.
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias.
• Assist with pre/post cath and pre/post IR procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Provide additional support as required within the PACU.

Compliance / Notes

Flu vaccine is required, with exemptions allowed for medical or religious reasons. A drug screen is required within 30 days of start. EKG testing is pass/fail with up to 2 attempts allowed.
