The organization is seeking an Operating Room (OR) nurse in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves working in a Level I trauma center with a team dedicated to providing high-quality surgical care across diverse service lines. The OR nurse will be responsible for supporting various surgical procedures, including general, trauma, and specialized cases, with a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.

• Shift: 4x10s - 0645-1715, 10 hours shifts

• Minimum Hours Per Week: 40 hours

• Start Date: 07/27/2026

• Experience Required: 3 years' experience, minimum 0 years of experience needed for eligibility; First-timers not accepted

• Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) required; CNOR preferred

• Schedule: Days, 10-hour shifts, minimum 40 hours weekly

• Must have active Illinois license in hand or be in application process to apply

• Additional Qualifications:

  • General OR and trauma experience required
  • Level I trauma experience required
  • Bariatric case experience including laparoscopic assisted cases
  • Experience with general surgery including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure
  • Neurology experience with cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion
  • Orthopedic skills including arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, fracture reduction
  • Plastic surgery skills including free flap microvascular procedures
  • Transplant experience with organ donation
  • Urology skills including cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy
  • Trauma skills such as amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA injuries
  • Emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, latex allergy awareness, malignant hyperthermia protocols
  • Proficiency with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables
  • Knowledge of blood administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol, urinary catheterization

• Additional Information:

  • Will work with all service lines except cardiovascular.
  • Open to float within scope, rarely needed.
  • On-call requirement: Yes, approximately 1 week per month.
  • Guaranteed hours are subject to client cancellations; up to 36 hours may be called off per thirteen-week assignment.
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays.
  • No block scheduling accommodations.
  • Parking permit provided at no cost.
  • Orientation includes 40 hours, completed virtually on Day 1, with modules due by 4:00 PM CST.
  • Candidate must be pre-closed at time of submission, with SSN and DOB provided, and interview availability confirmed.
