We are looking for an experienced Benefits Consultant to support a complex benefits environment within an education organization. This Long-term Contract position will combine day-to-day ICHRA benefit's administration with process evaluation, helping the organization strengthen benefit operations, improve accuracy, and establish a more sustainable model for ongoing support. The role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can manage detailed administrative work while also advising on workflow design, ownership alignment, and the broader impact of benefits activity on payroll and related functions.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily benefits administration activities and ensure benefit updates are processed accurately and on time.

• Review existing benefits workflows, document current practices, and identify operational gaps that affect efficiency, accuracy, or accountability.

• Recommend practical improvements to benefit administration processes to create a more scalable and reliable operating model.

• Partner with HR and Finance stakeholders to define clear responsibility lines for benefits-related tasks and ongoing oversight.

• Analyze how benefit elections, changes, and deductions influence payroll outcomes and help resolve related issues.

• Perform detailed invoice review and reconciliation for benefit plans, investigating discrepancies and supporting timely resolution.

• Provide focused support during open enrollment periods, including administration, documentation, and coordination of high volumes of plan changes.

• Track the billing implications of benefit elections and status changes, especially during peak activity periods in January and February.

• Create clear process documentation and workflow guides to support consistency, knowledge transfer, and long-term sustainability.

• Use platforms such as Paylocity Payroll, ICHRA, Paychex, and Benefit Bay to support administration, reporting, and reconciliation activities.

• 10+ years of experience in benefits administration, benefits analysis, or compensation and benefits roles.
• Strong expertise in benefit functions, benefits coordination, and administrative processes tied to employee programs.
• Demonstrated ability to assess current operations, identify process weaknesses, and recommend effective improvements.
• Experience reconciling complex benefit billing and resolving discrepancies with a high level of accuracy.
• Solid understanding of the relationship between benefits administration and payroll processing.
• Ability to work effectively across HR and Finance teams to clarify ownership and improve cross-functional workflows.
• Strong documentation, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage detailed work in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on experience with systems such as Paylocity Payroll, Paylocity benefits tools, Paychex, or similar benefits administration platforms.
