What you can expect as a Composite Technician at DAS Aviation As a Composite Technician, the role repairs parts and components by means of "Wet Layup" and "Prepreg". Repairs may be facilitated using a clean room and cured by means of an autoclave or controlled oven. Types of Composite bonding methods utilized in repair may consist of co‑curing, co‑bonding, secondary bonding, metal bonding, and adhesives in liquid form or film. Key Responsibilities Use close tolerance measuring tools (scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc.). Use hand tools (drill motors, die grinders, rivet guns, fastener installation tools, etc.). Perform alignment/assembly using jig, templates and fixtures. Use PPE when cutting, grinding, blending, and sanding. Extensive use of bagging materials and proper bagging for a wide range of component shapes and styles. Operate "Hot‑Bonder" type machine cure procedure. Maintain, clean, and repair shop facilities, equipment, and tooling when required. Safely operate shop equipment such as curing oven, autoclave, vacuum system. Basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals and maintenance databases. Effectively and clearly communicate in English. Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or management. Education and Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License is not required but welcome. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory. Experience Journeyman: 0–5 years of experience as a composite technician. Master: 5+ years of experience as a composite technician. Other Qualifications Team player, self‑motivated, performs well in fast‑paced environment with deadlines and time constraints. Work Schedule and Requirements Attend work every day as scheduled; opportunity for overtime as workflow permits. Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation to get to work every day. Perform all work in accordance with FAA guidelines. Follow all company and safety rules. Maintain customer‑oriented work habits. Physical Requirements Lifts 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting. Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas. Standing for long periods of time. Mental Requirements Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines. Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation. Work with others in a professional manner. Supervision Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader. Working Conditions Work performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses. Multiple departments – Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelles, Composite. Equipment Used Personal hand tools supplied by mechanic. Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
