Radiation Therapist Travel Job Details

• Location: Palo Alto, California
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,520–$2,710
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8-hour day shifts
• Shift Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital-based radiation oncology department
• Patient Population: Adult patients
• Weekend, Call, and Floating Requirements: None
• Radiation Therapy Technology: Varian TrueBeam, ARIA, Eclipse, and Epic

Radiation Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional radiation therapy experience
• Current ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy
• Valid California Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA CRT) credential
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Previous travel healthcare or travel radiation therapist experience required
• Experience with ARIA, CT simulation, Eclipse/Varian systems, radiation safety, treatment-site simulation, emergency cases, and isolation precautions
• Epic electronic medical record charting experience
• Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, patient-care, and communication skills

Radiation Therapist Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized radiation treatments in accordance with physician-developed treatment plans.
• Operate radiation therapy equipment safely and accurately, including Varian TrueBeam systems.
• Complete CT and treatment simulations and accurately position and immobilize patients.
• Assess patients before and during radiation therapy, monitor treatment responses, and communicate changes to the oncology care team.
• Provide compassionate patient education and support to patients, families, and support persons throughout treatment.
• Apply radiation safety practices and follow applicable regulations, hospital policies, and department procedures.
• Document radiation treatments and patient care accurately in ARIA and Epic.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and maintain a safe treatment environment.
• Collaborate effectively with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, nurses, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Assist with department procedures and orient other staff as needed.
