Railyard Operations Manager

Job Description ConGlobal is a leading specialist in multimodal terminal operations, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. This role focuses on managing the day‑to‑day activities of the railyard terminal staff, driving safety, performance, and productivity. Schedule: Night shift, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM. Must be flexible; hours may vary with customer and terminal needs, including weekends and holidays. As the Railyard Operations Manager, you will lead the railyard operations, coordinate railcar loading/unloading, verify train numbers, manage ramp crew movements, resolve operational challenges, enforce safety regulations, coach staff, handle administrative duties, staff scheduling, and ensure effective team communication. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage daily railyard operations, ensuring a safe, productive and efficient work environment. Coordinate and prepare railcars for loading and unloading. Verify numbers on all inbound and outbound trains, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Manage ramp crew movements to ensure timely and efficient operations. Identify operational issues and implement problem‑solving techniques to maintain workflow efficiency. Enforce safety regulations and policies, providing on‑the‑spot coaching for any violations. Promote employee engagement and retention by fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Perform both administrative and non‑administrative duties as required, including reporting, staff training, and scheduling. Qualifications Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in railyard operations or a related field. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Exceptional organizational, multi‑tasking, and time‑management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and the MS Office suite. Strong work ethic and ability to lead by example. Must pass a pre‑employment background verification, physical and drug screening; use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing railyard operations or similar logistical operations. Familiarity with industry regulations and safety protocols. Strong coaching and team development skills. Experience working outdoors in a railyard environment with exposure to various weather conditions. Ability to manage operational challenges and oversee staff in a fast‑paced setting.
