Key Responsibilities Warehouse Leadership and Staff Supervision

- Supervise, coach, and develop warehouse employees, including work assignment, shift coverage, attendance, performance expectations, skills development, and corrective action in partnership with Human Resources.
- Conduct daily shift-start meetings to review inbound and outbound priorities, manufacturing requirements, safety concerns, quality issues, staffing, inventory constraints, equipment status, and required recovery actions.
- Maintain a consistent floor presence and complete routine warehouse walkthroughs to identify safety risks, blocked aisles, inventory discrepancies, material shortages, workflow delays, housekeeping gaps, equipment concerns, and other operational issues.
- Balance labor and resources across warehouse functions based on receiving volume, production priorities, shipment schedules, employee qualifications, storage constraints, and changing customer demand.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, job-specific training, qualification records, and cross-training plans that improve consistency, flexibility, and accountability.
- Translate production schedules, material requirements, inbound receipts, and customer shipment priorities into executable warehouse staffing and workload plans.
- Partner with Planning, Materials, Procurement, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations to maintain clear-to-build readiness and reliable material support.
- Review upcoming work orders, kits, shortages, inbound commitments, staging requirements, and finished-goods needs to identify warehouse constraints before they affect manufacturing or customer delivery.
- Coordinate material presentation and line-side replenishment to minimize waiting, excess handling, congestion, stockouts, and unnecessary work-in-process.
- Use ERP/MRP data, warehouse observations, inventory reports, and KPI trends to validate priorities, identify constraints, and support data-based decisions.
- Oversee inventory movement from receiving and storage through staging, point-of-use delivery, production consumption, finished-goods storage, and shipment, ensuring accurate system transactions and physical traceability.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined receiving, labeling, location control, material issuance, transfers, cycle counting, reconciliation, and investigation of variances.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage density, point-of-use locations, staging areas, and material routes to improve space utilization, accessibility, FIFO controls where applicable, and flow to production.
- Partner with Materials Planning, Production Planning, Procurement, and Production teams to identify shortages, resolve discrepancies, prioritize inbound material, and maintain line readiness.
- Control excess, obsolete, nonconforming, customer-owned, and quarantined material in accordance with company procedures and quality requirements.
- Oversee end-to-end order processing activities, including picking, packing, labeling, staging, documentation, and preparation of materials or finished goods for delivery to the production line or shipment to customers.
- Verify that orders are complete, accurately identified, properly packaged, and supported by required shipping or internal-transfer documentation before release.
- Establish standard workflows for receiving, put-away, replenishment, kitting, staging, picking, packing, and shipping to reduce travel, handling, errors, and turnaround time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse using 5S principles, visual controls, designated storage locations, and documented housekeeping standards.
- Ensure aisles, docks, racks, staging zones, emergency equipment, and material-handling paths remain clear, safe, and compliant with site requirements.
- Coordinate inbound, internal, and outbound logistics activities to align material movement with production schedules, dock capacity, storage availability, and customer delivery requirements.
- Work with Supply Chain, carriers, shipping personnel, project teams, and customer-facing functions to prioritize receipts and shipments, address delays, and resolve freight or documentation issues.
- Monitor dock schedules, shipment readiness, packaging requirements, carrier performance, and delivery status; communicate risks and recovery actions to affected stakeholders.
- Support efficient movement of oversized, high-value, or project-specific materials and finished systems while maintaining proper identification, protection, and chain of custody
- Enforce all environmental, health, safety, quality, and site operating requirements; stop work and correct unsafe conditions when necessary.
- Review and audit the safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, hoists, and other material-handling equipment, confirming that operators are trained, authorized, and following established procedures.
- Ensure required pre-use and daily equipment inspections are completed, documented, and retained; report defects and coordinate maintenance needs before equipment is returned to service.
- Lead incident follow-up, near-miss review, root cause and corrective action activities, and verification of sustained countermeasures in partnership with Safety, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations.
- Ensure inventory and production transactions are recorded accurately and promptly in company systems, including receipts, transfers, issues, completions, adjustments, and shipments.
- Maintain compliance with company-specific procedures, record-retention requirements, inventory controls, quality standards, and customer or regulatory requirements applicable to the operation.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, flow, productivity, inventory accuracy, warehouse utilization, lead time, and on-time delivery.
- Apply 5S, standard work, visual management, daily accountability, waste elimination, problem solving, and root cause analysis to stabilize and improve operating performance.
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving activities using RCCA methods to address recurring shortages, inventory errors, picking defects, production delays, equipment downtime, and process variation.
- Develop and report KPIs for safety, quality, schedule attainment, throughput, labor productivity, inventory accuracy, order accuracy, dock-to-stock time, picking performance, and on-time shipment.
- Use advanced Excel and available reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau to identify trends, prioritize actions, and communicate performance and risk to Operations leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent directly relevant manufacturing leadership experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse operations, distribution, inventory control, materials management, logistics, or supply chain operations, including at least 3 years leading front-line employees.
- Demonstrated experience managing receiving, inventory control, material flow, order fulfillment, shipping, warehouse workflow, and safety compliance in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and disciplined transaction control for receiving, inventory movement, work orders, material consumption, and shipping.
- Strong understanding of warehouse planning, labor allocation, inventory control, space utilization, order processing, internal logistics, and support of manufacturing schedules.
