Physical Therapist

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist is responsible for conducting physical therapy plans of care to facilitate rehabilitation for patients suffering from disabilities caused by disease, injury, dysfunction, or other physical, cognitive, or perceptual limitations. This role involves evaluating patients, establishing treatment goals, planning and carrying out treatments, documenting progress, and supervising therapy assistants and attendants. The Physical Therapist plays a key role in patient care, education, and departmental support to ensure high-quality rehabilitation services. Responsibilities:

• Evaluate patients and establish appropriate treatment goals and plans.
• Carry out treatment plans and document evaluations and treatments accurately and timely.
• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Attendants in accordance with state laws and departmental guidelines.
• Assist management with budgeting, departmental goal setting, revising work instructions, and providing in-service training and education.
• Contribute to improving patient satisfaction through active participation in quality initiatives.
• Assist with promotional activities and program development for Physical Therapy services.
• Supervise and mentor volunteers and students following department protocols and professional guidelines.
• Maintain compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program.
• Valid license to practice Physical Therapy in the state of Ohio.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to problem-solve, prioritize, and make independent decisions.
• Minimum of one year of experience in physical therapy preferred.
• Ability to exert physical effort consistent with heavy work demands (lifting up to 50-100 pounds occasionally).

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in supervising therapy assistants and managing departmental activities.
• Familiarity with budgeting, quality improvement, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Knowledge of APTA guidelines and physical therapy promotional program development.

Special Considerations:

• Must adhere to hospital isolation protocols and use appropriate protective equipment.
• Work involves potential exposure to electrical equipment, blood contact, mechanical equipment, burns, chemicals, and infectious diseases.
• Requires strong cognitive and communication skills to collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Physical demands include frequent lifting and assisting patients with mobility and therapy activities.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of either four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days per week.
• No weekends or holidays required.
