This includes processing salaried and hourly wages and remitting corresponding tax and benefit withholdings to the appropriate government agencies or outsourced vendors. In addition, the Specialist will process monthly or quarterly sales & use tax filings and/or annual personal property tax filings with certain state or local government agencies in support of the Accounting & Finance team. The ideal candidate can work both independently and collaboratively to meet recurring and off-cycle deadlines. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the Workday system and assisting the Payroll and Accounting & Finance teams to support the payroll process and ensure timely remittance of certain state and local taxes.Essential Functions:Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll via Workday under the supervision of the Payroll ManagerProcess off-cycle payroll requests for employee terminations in accordance with state regulationsCoordinate with third-party vendor, ADP, to assist in preparing quarterly and annual wage and payroll tax filingsAdminister payroll-related benefits deductions and contributionsRemit monthly or quarterly sales & use tax filings, annual personal property tax filings, and annual entity renewal filings to state and local governments under the supervision of the VP Finance & ControllerRespond to inquiries from team members, other departments, and management in a timely mannerProvide administrative support as directed by the Payroll Manager or VP Finance & ControllerPerform ad-hoc analysis and other job-related duties as assignedSkills & Other Qualifications:2+ years of payroll experienceBachelor’s degree preferred, but not requiredKnowledge of processing multi location payroll in a system/ platform; Workday preferredComfortable completing online or physical tax-related forms for remitting sales taxes, personal property taxes, or renewing annual filingsAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretionStrong time management and organization skillsAttention to detail and high level of accuracyDeadline-orientedEffective verbal and written communication skillsStrong PC and technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookOther:Supervisory Responsibility: NoneTravel: NonePhysical Demands: This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds and operates in a professional office environment using standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines.
