Food Pantry Volunteer
Old Pueblo Community Services
OPCS is seeking a volunteer to to help connect our shelter clients with essential food resources. This volunteer will assist with sorting perishable and non-perishable foods, packing food boxes, and preparing sack lunches. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to make a meaningful impact in the community.
Time Commitment
- 4+ hours weekly
- Anticipated volunteer days are Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
- 6-month commitment preferred
Responsibilities May Include
- Sorting food items
- Preparing food boxes for clients and OPCS shelter facilities
- Preparing sack lunches
- Organizing and maintaining food storage area
- Additional duties based on program needs as the role develops
Qualifications
- Dependable and punctual
- Organized and able to work independently
- Comfortable standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Supportive of OPCS's mission and committed to treating all individuals with dignity and respect
- Willing to follow food safety, confidentiality & volunteer policies and procedures (training provided)
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Orientation & Training
Volunteers in this role are required to complete volunteer orientation and training (approx. 4–8 hours total).
