Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary

Our organization is in search of a Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary located in Oceanside, NY. The Gastroenterology Division comprises ten physician faculty members, specializing in various areas such as general GI, advanced interventional techniques, mobility, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and hepatology. Additionally, full-time GI faculty are present at our affiliated practices throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties, alongside numerous voluntary GI physicians closely linked to our endoscopic services.

Our facility boasts a comprehensive array of specialized, high-tech interventions (including POEMS and EUS) within a bustling endoscopy unit. We also conduct complex hepatobiliary procedures and operate an IBD center and a Mobility Center, complemented by two new state-of-the-art outpatient ambulatory pavilions. The Division trains eight GI fellows (six regular and two advanced interventional) and collaborates closely with the Internal Medicine and General Surgery residency programs, as well as our colorectal surgeons. We maintain a strong partnership with the prestigious NYC Mount Sinai academic program, contributing significantly to academic publications annually.

The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing clinical services, overseeing administrative functions, and managing quality and safety performance metrics, all while contributing to the expansion of our growing Division. Eligibility for a faculty appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Our organization is one of eight hospitals within the Mount Sinai Health System and serves as the flagship hospital for Long Island, conveniently located about 30 minutes from New York City. As an award-winning, not-for-profit teaching hospital, we are one of the largest in the region, featuring 455 beds, over 900 physicians, and a workforce of 3,500 employees.

Department Overview

The Department of Medicine is actively expanding across various inpatient and outpatient settings, including a new 60,000 square foot facility in Wantagh. We have 24/7 intensivists in two state-of-the-art ICUs, a newly established 50-bay Emergency Department, and nine new operating rooms with enhanced cardiac and neurosurgical capabilities. Our hospital has received numerous accolades for delivering high-quality care, often referred to as Long Island's best-kept secret, while consistently ranking among the top healthcare providers.

Position Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a large and expanding GI service.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree from an accredited institution.

Compensation

The compensation for this role ranges from $550,000 to $650,000, excluding bonuses, incentive compensation, or benefits. Please note that actual salaries may vary based on factors such as experience, specialties, historical productivity, and community needs. The listed salary range pertains to full-time employment and does not encompass bonuses or additional benefits.
