Overview The Scientific Data & Computing Center (SDCC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) provides computational support for BNL scientific programs. The SDCC is hiring a Technology Analyst/Senior Technology Analyst to support the RHIC and ATLAS scientific computing environments. Responsibilities Assist in data center infrastructure management using DCIM tools. Assist in the installation of new computer equipment. Assist in the management of data center assets and hardware. Participate in off‑hours support of the data center. Assist and contribute to the general operational readiness of the SCDF. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, related discipline, or equivalent experience. Minimum of one year full‑time experience in data center operations (hardware installation, lifecycle management, software upgrades, end‑user support). Familiarity with asset management and validation in a large computing center environment. Ability to perform physically demanding work occasionally. Ability to work autonomously in a collaborative environment with time‑sensitive deadlines. Clear and concise oral and written communication skills. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiarity with high‑performance disk storage systems. Familiarity with high‑performance and high‑throughput computing clusters. Working knowledge of networks and networking concepts. Basic IT services that interface the facility with user‑facing services. Experience with configuration management and version control software. Familiarity with collaborative tools such as Mattermost and Jira. Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements Ability and willingness to perform moderate physically demanding work occasionally, including server replacement, moving servers, connecting network cabling, inventory management, and organization of replacement hardware parts. Job Details On‑site position. Occasional domestic and foreign travel may be required. U.S. citizens and permanent residents only; not eligible for visa sponsorship. Salary range: $77,250 – $128,800 per year, commensurate with qualifications. Comprehensive benefits program available.
