Die Tooling Troubleshooting Machinist

Where: Twinsburg, Ohio | Type: Direct Hire | Pay: $35.00/hour

Imagine this

It’s 10:59 PM. The third shift is ramping up, production needs a trim punch change, and a casting is stuck in the die. You roll the tool to a safe spot, diagnose the issue on the mounted die, free the casting, correct the dimension, and get the line moving. Later, you’re rebuilding components from blueprints—grinding and draw-polishing cavities so they meet spec—before documenting the work and handing off a spotless station to the next team.

Your impact

• Restore, rebuild, and maintain casting and trim dies to their original specs; operate all necessary machines and equipment
• Work from guidance provided by a Team Leader and/or Supervisor
• Move, clean, disassemble, repair, and reassemble dies using lift trucks, die-cleaning equipment, and overhead cranes
• Manufacture and replace segments, cores, details, and other parts using blueprints and the right tools
• Draw-polish and grind die cavities to achieve required finishes
• Execute in-press fixes: remove stuck castings, correct dimensional problems, and swap cores and trim punches on mounted dies
• Perform welding in the foundry and within the Die Repair Department
• Diagnose and resolve production tooling issues; complete preventive and corrective maintenance
• Accurately complete forms, die work orders, pictorials, sign-offs, and records
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and department
• Support onboarding by training new employees
• Carry out additional assignments that ensure safe, efficient tool and die repair operations

Schedule options

• Second Shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm
• Third Shift: 11:00pm - 7:00am

What you’ll need to succeed

• Position-specific experience you can describe in detail; up to 2 years of training may be required; Tool & Die Journeyman papers are a plus (not required)
• 2+ years of experience draw-polishing or grinding die cavity surfaces with the necessary tools/equipment
• Ability to perform highly skilled work and solve complex problems independently
• Associate degree, trade/technical school education, or journeyperson certification required
