Welding Technician

Under limited supervision, operates all welding equipment and performs position welding functions with a high degree of proficiency.

Essential Job Functions:

• Review daily welding production schedule with Production Lead to insure awareness of requirements and output required
• Read blue prints to determine required weld locations, components and layouts
• Operate all position, stick and wire welding equipment used in the department
• Weld component parts as required referring to prints or product books as necessary
• Perform grinding, deburring and polishing duties required in the process of producing finished, high quality welding projects
• Report immediately to the supervisor any and all problems that may affect safety, equipment, tooling and or quality
• Inspect work periodically to insure that welds are consistent with approved levels of quantity and quality established by the company
• Manufacture prototype brackets to be used on new, changed or proposed products as requested
• Repair any re-weld to German DIN/AWS standard and field welding
• Operate bar code scanner/computer
• Set-up small fixtures as required
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Physical Demands:

• Pass Jager Eye examination, annually
• Perform work in the plant facility 100% of the time
• Lift up to 50 pounds, as needed

Education/Skills/Experience:

• Technical degree in Welding required
• Minimum 2 years welding experience
• Pass Schwing America, Inc. welding tests and maintain welding certification by passing periodic welding tests conducted by the Quality Control department
• Knowledge of German and American weld symbols required
• Qualified to the required German and American Standards in all positions
• Qualified to German DIN EN Standards
• Qualified to Table 4.11 in the AWS D.1.1 code book
• Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
• Ability to read blue prints
• Familiarity with computers to look up work instructions, track labor and other tasks as needed
