Role Overview

Zoë Feldman Design is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer / Project Manager to join our New York design team. This role is ideal for a highly organized, technically proficient project leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-end residential environment and has extensive experience managing complex residential renovation projects from pre-construction through final installation.

The Senior Design Project Manager serves as the logistical, technical, and construction lead for assigned projects, including sophisticated residences with multi-million-dollar construction and furnishing budgets . Working closely with clients, designers, architects, contractors, consultants, vendors, and the firm's procurement team, this individual is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, within budget, and at the highest level of quality while providing an organized and exceptional client experience.

This is a full-time position based in New York City, with Remote Fridays available following the successful completion of the introductory period. Occasional travel to project locations and Zoë Feldman Design's Washington, D.C. headquarters is required.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
• Seven or more years of experience in interior design, architecture, construction administration, or design project management, preferably within high-end residential projects
• Demonstrated success managing complex residential renovations with multi-million-dollar budgets from pre-construction through installation
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD required
• Studio Designer experience preferred
• Strong understanding of construction documentation, RFIs, bids, change orders, consultant coordination, and construction administration
• Advanced experience developing, managing, forecasting, and reporting on multi-million-dollar project budgets , schedules, and work plans
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Polished and confident client-facing presence
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor project teams
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a deadline-driven environment
• Experience managing residential renovation projects in New York City strongly preferred
• Ability and willingness to travel for site visits, installations, and occasional visits to the Washington, D.C. headquarters

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Delivery

• Serve as the primary project management and construction lead for complex high-end residential projects from kickoff through final installation
• Manage multiple concurrent residential renovations, including projects with multi-million-dollar construction and furnishing budgets
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project scopes, schedules, budgets, work plans, and communication plans
• Maintain financial oversight throughout the project lifecycle, including budgets, commitments, contingencies, projected costs, and change orders
• Prepare budget forecasts and proactively communicate financial status and potential risks to clients and firm leadership
• Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, within budget, and in accordance with the firm's quality standards
• Anticipate project risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex project, client, and construction-related issues
• Maintain organized project documentation and clear communication throughout the life of each project

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Lead and support multidisciplinary project teams, including Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Designers, and Procurement team members
• Mentor Project Managers and Project Coordinators through coaching, guidance, and project management best practices
• Review project work for quality, completeness, and consistency
• Support the Directors of Project Operations with training, process improvements, and professional development initiatives
• Promote accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence across project teams

Budgeting, Scheduling & Documentation

• Develop, manage, and continuously refine detailed project schedules, scopes, work plans, and multi-million-dollar budgets
• Monitor project financial performance, commitments, projected costs, contingencies, and budget variances
• Review and approve project schedules, budgets, and scopes prepared by team members
• Oversee RFIs, bids, change orders, consultant coordination, construction documentation, meeting minutes, and project records
• Evaluate the schedule and financial implications of design revisions, contractor changes, client requests, and unforeseen site conditions
• Ensure all project stakeholders are working from current project documentation
• Track client decisions and project milestones to maintain schedule and budget integrity

Client, Consultant & Contractor Relations

• Serve as the senior point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, consultants, vendors, and project partners
• Lead meetings related to project progress, budgets, schedules, construction coordination, and logistics
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues
• Build strong relationships while providing a responsive, organized, and proactive client experience
• Coordinate communication among all project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution

Procurement, Installation & Project Closeout

• Coordinate closely with the Procurement team throughout pricing, purchasing, fabrication, delivery, and installation
• Integrate procurement milestones into overall project schedules
• Coordinate installation sequencing with contractors, vendors, and installers
• Oversee on-site installation of construction elements, finishes, lighting, plumbing fixtures, furnishings, and accessories
• Lead project closeout, including punch lists, documentation, final approvals, and client turnover

Site Visits & Local Project Support

• Travel throughout New York City and the surrounding metropolitan area for project meetings, site visits, vendor appointments, and installations
• Provide on-site leadership and problem-solving during critical project phases
• Occasionally transport project samples, finish materials, or documents as necessary
• Valid driver's license preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to navigate active construction sites, including climbing stairs
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout project sites for extended periods
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry project materials or samples weighing up to 30 pounds
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, vendors, consultants, and team members both in the office and on project sites
