DIGITAL ORGANIZER — NORTH LAKEFRONT, CHICAGO

Location: Remote — Chicago-based strongly preferred. Assigned voters are in the North Lakefront: Uptown and parts of Lakeview.

Pay: $25/hour

Type: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal

Start date: Immediate, rolling

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This program focuses on increasing voter participation and engagement in Chicago's North Lakefront neighborhoods, and on ensuring that every voice in the community is heard. At JBC Campaigns, we are committed to electing Democrats and driving progressive change through grassroots organizing and one-on-one conversations with voters.

This cycle, we are having those conversations online. Digital Organizers reach voters by direct message on social media rather than at the door, using our relational organizing app, to identify who to contact and to record what each voter says.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are hiring reliable, sociable, online-fluent organizers to join our North Lakefront team. You will work from home on your own device, using your own social media accounts to start and sustain conversations with a defined set of voters, and entering their survey responses directly into the app.

This is an online role. There is no door-to-door canvassing and no walking turf.

This is an entry-level position — no prior campaign experience is required. Paid training is provided. Schedules are flexible, with multiple shift windows available.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Work from home, on your own schedule, within assigned shift windows

• Pull your assigned voter list from our native app and download it to your phone's contacts

• Match assigned voters to their social media profiles and send them direct messages from your own accounts, using campaign-approved scripts

• Build an ongoing relationship with a small group of voters over the course of the program, rather than a single one-off contact

• Record every contact attempt, response, and survey answer in the app the same day

• Submit daily reports and check in with your supervisor by phone or video

• Represent the campaign and its values professionally in every message you send

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Field Director or Field Organizers

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Established personal accounts on at least one major platform (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok) that you use regularly and are willing to use for voter outreach

• Friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented, with the discipline to log data accurately and on time

• Sound judgment about what to post and say publicly under a campaign's name

• Familiarity with Uptown, Lakeview, and the surrounding lakefront, or ties to local community organizations, is a strong plus

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 18 years or older

• Authorized to work in the U.S.

• Smartphone with mobile data and a reliable internet connection

• At least one established, actively used personal social media account that you are willing to use for voter outreach.

• Flexible availability: 12+ hours per week, including some evenings and weekends

• Must pass a review of the public content on the social media accounts you would use for this work (see below)

SOCIAL MEDIA REVIEW

Because this role is performed through your own public-facing social media accounts, we review the public content of those accounts before extending an offer, and periodically during the program. Applicants will be asked to list the handles of the accounts they intend to use for this work and to keep those accounts publicly viewable during the review.

We do not hire applicants whose public social media history includes offensive content. For this purpose, offensive content includes, but is not limited to:

• content that demeans, harasses, or promotes hatred toward any person or group on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, or age

• threats of violence, or content endorsing, glorifying, or inciting violence

• sexually explicit material

• content promoting illegal activity

• targeted harassment or abuse of an individual

Ordinary political speech and political disagreement are not disqualifying. Determinations are made case by case, and applicants are given an opportunity to respond before a final decision.
