We're partnering with a well-respected family law practice in Chicago to identify their next Associate Attorney. This firm handles a high volume of divorce, custody, and related domestic relations matters, including high-net-worth cases, and is looking for someone who can take on a real caseload and run it with minimal oversight.

About the Role

\n

\n

\n

The team handles the full range of family law matters — dissolution of marriage, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, maintenance, property division, and orders of protection — from intake through resolution. Associates here get direct client contact and courtroom responsibility early, with real case ownership rather than a purely supportive role.

Responsibilities

\n

\n

\n

\n
• Manage a full caseload of family law matters with a high degree of independence
\n
• Handle divorce, custody/parenting time, child support, maintenance, and property division matters from retention through resolution
\n
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, settlement agreements, and other filings
\n
• Appear at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials in Illinois courts
\n
• Conduct client consultations and maintain regular, responsive client communication
\n
• Negotiate settlements and resolve complex financial and custody issues on behalf of clients
\n
• Handle prenuptial/postnuptial agreements and adoption matters where relevant
\n

Qualifications

\n

\n

\n

\n
• J.D. from an accredited law school; active Illinois bar license
\n
• 2+ years of family law experience; high-net-worth divorce experience a plus
\n
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to resolve complex legal and financial issues
\n
• Comfortable managing an active caseload independently
\n
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client-service skills
\n
• Strong research, drafting, and case-management skills
\n
