Job Details Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Hiring Range: $16.88 - $28.01 Schedule Details: Sunday through Saturday Scheduled Hours: 06:45 – 15:15 Shift: 1 – Day Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America) Hours: 32 Cost Center: 10021 - 0226 Nursing 2 Union: SHARE Marlborough Signing Bonus: May be available; confirmed during interview. Major Responsibilities Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients (e.g., changes in skin condition, vital signs, and/or mental status). Provides constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee. Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment; utilizes interventions to de‑escalate patients and, if unsuccessful, participates in restraints in accordance with training and education as directed. Assists patients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulation, meals, and nourishment. Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques and body mechanics. Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks, utilizing fall prevention strategies, and following the Restraint Policy standards when caring for a restrained patient. Records vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, pulse oxymetry), measures patients’ weight and height. Performs EKGs, point‑of‑care tests, bladder scanning, and specimen preparation for lab transport. Performs unit‑specific procedures (e.g., battery changes for telemetry units, equipment checks, cleaning equipment between patients). Assists RN/LIP with treatments by preparing patient, obtaining equipment, positioning patient, providing emotional support, and cleaning up afterward. Monitors food and fluid intake, refills tube‑feeding bags, records output, performs ostomy care as directed. Builds positive rapport and relationships, demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to patient needs. Communicates respectfully and culturally/age‑appropriately with patients, staff, families, and visitors. Replenishes patient and unit supplies and equipment as needed. Requests assistance from identified resources when additional direction is required. Keeps current with hospital and unit changes by reading communication boards, bulletins, and UMMHC e‑mails. Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements. Maintains regular, reliable, and predictable attendance. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed. Position Qualifications License/Certification/Education: Minimum of a high school education or GED. Current Basic Life Support (BLS). Experience/Skills: Minimum 800 patient‑care hours and 6 months as a PCT I, or 6 months of prior inpatient/outpatient direct patient‑care experience. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English clearly and concisely. Basic medical terminology knowledge. Basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal skills for gathering information and building relationships. Proven problem‑solving abilities for routine situations. Ability to remain calm under stress or in emergency situations. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Work indoors in a patient‑care environment. Requires hand dexterity, hearing, vision to follow directions, adjust equipment, observe and describe patient conditions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Heavy demand work with standing, walking most of the time, pushing heavy equipment, and frequent bending.
